BC’s Zach Spicer to Receive Premier’s Award for Aboriginal Youth Excellence in Sport

Zach Spicer is not new to excellence. In fact, he was awarded the regional Aboriginal Youth Excellence award just this past fall. Now the Vancouver based 29er sailor will receive one of the top honours for youth sport in BC – the Premier’s Award for Aboriginal Youth Excellence in Sport.

As part of the awards ceremony and to celebrate Zach’s achievement, Premier John Hogan be on hand to present the award during the Opening Ceremonies of the Gathering Our Voices National Aboriginal Youth Conference (GOV) on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at the Sheraton Vancouver Airport in Richmond, BC. Zach has also been invited to attend an exclusive Aboriginal Youth Leadership Forum during the March conference.

The question now is what’s next for Zach? He recently capped off a busy 2017 season which included the 29er Worlds in California. Now his eyes are set on youth worlds qualification in Houston and 29er Midwinter’s West to name this season’s highlights.

BC Sailing congratulates Zach on his leadership both on and off the water – and best of luck with all of his upcoming endeavours.
