The Kitsilano Yacht Club (KYC) was founded in the summer of 1934 to foster amateur sailing on English Bay in Vancouver, and encourage competition in the sport at the highest level. The club is now home to many active one-design sailing fleets, including the International Star, the International 505, the Martin 242, the Lightning and the Cal 20, as well as to the Pacific Reach outrigger canoe and SUP racing teams.

The KYC is currently seeking candidates to apply for open positions for its on-water race support team, for racing operations taking place between May 2018 and October 2018. KYC provides structured training sessions to the successful candidates during the weekends of April 2018.

The ideal candidates will demonstrate a focus on safety and courteous relations with club members and their guests, and will have experience in operation of motorboats, with a preference for candidates with sailing, and sailboat racing experience.

Candidates must possess a Canadian Pleasurecraft Operator Card (PCOC), The following are desirable but not required; A ROC(M) marine VHF radio certificate, a valid First Aid Qualification, and a good working knowledge of safe operation and piloting of small motorboats in close quarters around other small vessel traffic.

In general, the successful candidates will be available for work on Thursdays from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm, and for specific weekend events from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm.

The successful candidates will receive a level of training and experience which will make them desirable candidates to clubs who organize racing, regattas, and other on water sports events, in addition to employment opportunities at KYC in 2019 and beyond.
