BC Sailing Announces New Executive Director

The Board of Directors of BC Sailing Association is pleased to announce the appointment of Rick Nickelchok, B.Sc., M.P.E. as its new Executive Director.

The Human Resources Committee conducted a selection process which received 35 applications from across the United States and Canada.  Rick will assume his full-time role with BC Sailing on June 25th, 2018 and will work from our Richmond office.

Rick brings over thirty years of experience in the not-for-profit and academic sectors, including thirteen years leading national sports organizations (Biathlon Canada and the Sport Medicine and Science Council of Canada) and seventeen years leading post-secondary institution athletic programs, coaching professionally and teaching across Canada.

Rick was also the Executive Director of the BC Chiropractic Association, a consultant on corporate governance in the not-for-profit sector and a volunteer on provincial and local boards.

Rick possesses strong communication skills and a strong desire to promote stakeholder engagement and collaboration.   He is open-minded, flexible and non-judgemental, with a genuine desire to take the association to the next level of professionalism.  Rick always brings a positive attitude and a great sense of humour to every job.

We are excited about Rick’s joining our team and look forward to his meeting our Members in the coming year.
