Job Title: Summer Program DSA Land Coordinator 2019

Hours: Full time: 40 hours/week from 10 am to 6 pm daily
Days of week to be determined but will include
Saturdays and Sundays

This position is responsible for coordinating land logistics for a very busy sailing program, handling a wide range of responsibilities. It requires maturity, good judgment, strong coordination and organizational skills. This is a very much hands-on position, and can be physically challenging. Great work experience for a student to develop strong teambuilding skills, time management skills, and an opportunity to interact with children and adults with significant physical disabilities. The ability to work in a team environment with staff, volunteers and clients is essential. While sailing experience is not required, the ideal candidate should show initiative and be willing to learn, as the opportunities present themselves. First aid certification/CPR required.

Assist in delivering and implementing the day-to-day summer program activities of the sailing program, working in conjunction with the Programs Manager, Head Sailing Instructor and Disability Foundation staff.
 Coordinate 15 – 25 sailings a day
 Transfer sailors with aid of a hoist (note: this requires physical contact with our clients)
 Launch and retrieve boats using a winch
 Work closely with DSA office coordinator regarding scheduling of land volunteers
 Assist with training and orientation of volunteers
 Assist with coordination of special events; children’s day, group sailings, regattas, volunteer recognition barbeque
 Participate in staff meetings
 Other duties as assigned


This position is full-time and requires weekend work. Daily hours are 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Start date May 15 End date August 31.(5 days/week)

Grant restrictions require applicants be between 15 and 30 years old. He/she must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration & Refugee Protection Act.
