BC Sailing Announces New Program and Communication Manager!

It is my distinct pleasure to welcome Matthew Humer to the position of Program and Communication Manager at BC Sailing.

Matthew joins us from the Hollyburn Sailing Club where he held positions as Program Director (two years) and Commodore (one year).

Matthew, a recent graduate from the SFU School of Business, is a passionate sailor with over 13 years of experience in dinghies and keelboats, coaching and training experience, and a track record of leadership in program development and club management.

Matthew is an experienced coach where he led race teams, provided school lessons, and developed and delivered successful summer training programs. Matthew has also worked as a BC Sailing Learning Facilitator for the past 3 years.

His sailing certification includes Certified Learning Facilitator; CANSail 1 – 6 Coach; CANSail 6 Sailor; and NCCP Comp Dev Course (in progress).

In his new .8 FTE position, Matthew will be responsible for or supporting all domestic programs and BC Sailing communications including coach development, instructor development, officials’ development, BC Circuit, MOSS, Cruising, Keel Boat Racing, PHRF, Safe Sport, Safety at Sea, and the BC Sailing website / social media.
