Return to Sport Guidelines for BC
Dear BC Sailing Members,
Further to our letter of May 15th, we are pleased to advise that ViaSport today released to the public the Provincial Return to Sport Document which we are now allowed to release to you at this link Return to Sport Guidelines for B.C.
These guidelines are a result of the contributions of over 100 sport and recreation organizations and cover a wide range of activities and considerations to help protect you, your members, your communities and all of your stakeholders.
In addition to a reminder about the Return to Sport process and information on COVID-19 and its transmission, these guidelines include information in a sport context around:
- Risk management
- Facility access and use
- Facility operations
The Guidelines should be considered in conjunction with BC’s Restart Plan, B.C.’s current public health recommendations for a phased return to sport. Individual municipalities and private facilities will have their own protocols for your consideration as well. For all sports, it is recommended that for the time-being, activities remain community and skill-development focused, so no regattas are to be scheduled or planned at this time.
As part of the process, BC Sailing has been working with ViaSport to develop our own sport specific guidelines for Dinghy Sailing which are attached to this email. It is impetrative to note that our guidelines do not replace Return to Sport Guidelines for B.C. they are in addition to the Provincial Guidelines. It is also important to note that your operations must also follow the WorkSafe BC guidelines as your coaches and volunteers are governed by those rules in addition to the above.
We intend to host a virtual town hall meeting with our members to discuss our guidelines and answer questions concerning them and how best to implement any of them.
We have already started to draft our Return to Sport for Keelboat Racing guidelines and we hope to have these to the Membership shortly.
Stay safe and healthy!
