viaSport releases the Return to Sport Guidelines for Phase 3: Progressively Loosen.

The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture has announced that the BC sport sector is now moving to Phase 3.

For sports in  “Group A” (Individual sports that can maintain physical distancing or Sports done in pairs or small teams (up to 10) where there is no contact with those outside your pair/team). Competition is now allowed with restrictions.

All guidance pertaining to personal hygiene, cleaning protocols, symptom screening and other risk mitigation practices still apply in Phase 3

The Public Health Order related to group gatherings is still in effect, limiting group numbers to 50 people including competitors, officials, coaches, and parents/spectators at a venue.

Sailing specific additional guidelines for competition:

  • Regional and provincial competitions may be introduced in accordance with Via Sport and sport-specific guidelines
  • Registration should be online only
  • No in person skippers meeting
  • No social activities/regatta food and beverage (outside of normal club operations)
  • Protest hearings online
  • No prize giving
  • No onsite coach debriefs
