BC Games Technical Information

 

Venue: Rocky Point Sailing Association (Port Moody)

 

Events Categories:

  • Combined male and female competition: C420 open, C420 female, Laser Radial male, Laser Radial female, Optimist female, and Optimist male.

 

Athlete Age:

  • U15; U19

 

Athlete Age Eligibility Description:

  • Radial and C420 sailors cannot turn 20 years old in 2024. Eligible birth years: athletes born between 2005 and 2012, inclusive.
    Optimist sailors must be at least 12 years old but cannot turn 15 years old in 2024. Eligible birth years: athletes born between 2010 and 2012, inclusive.
  • Athletes may attend a second BC Games to compete in Sailing if at the first Games they competed in the Optimist Class AND at the second Games they will compete in either the Laser Radial or C420 Class. Athletes who are attending the Games for the first time will be given priority in selection, where all other aspects of selection are equal. Athletes are not permitted to attend more than two BC Games to compete in Sailing.

 

 

Coaching Eligibility:

  • Note that the role of head coaches and assistant coaches at the BC Games includes travelling to and from the Games with the team/zone, residing with the team/zone in BC Games accommodation, and acting in a supervisory capacity throughout the Games.
  • See BC Games General Rules for information about the roles of the head coach and assistant coach.
  • All head coaches must be CANSail 5 & 6 Instructor certified.
    All assistant coaches must be CANSail 5 & 6 Instructor trained. Adult supervisors are required to have completed Safe Sport Training.
