BC Youth at 2024 ILCA, 29er & I420 Midwinters West Regatta!
The Alamitos Bay Yacht Club in Long Beach California hosted the West Coast Midwinter Championships March 21st-24th, 2024.
This was also the 29er and ILCA 6 Canadian trials for the World Youth Sailing Championships. 39 sailors from BC competed in the 29er, ILCA 4, ILCA 6, and ILCA 7 classes representing the Hollyburn Sailing Club, Royal Vancouver Yacht Club, Royal Victoria Yacht Club, and the West Vancouver Yacht Club. While the event started out with some light air racing, the last 2 days saw winds gusting into the high 20’s with large swell, conditions new for most of our BC sailors.
Highlights include; ILCA 7 1st place Kelley Poole, 29er female trials 2nd place Alexis and Ayden Kuo, ILCA 4 6th place Yuanda Zhang, 7th place and 2nd female Alice Wan. Congratulations!
