BC’s First Foiling Camp!
BC’s First Foiling Camp Update ⛵️
• Across two days, over 30 participants from ages 13-70; participated in BC’s first foiling camp. Many sailors foiled for the first time, while those with experience learnt useful tips and tricks from Guest Coach, current Waszp World Champion; Sam Street!@_sam_street_
• The coaching was made possible by the Isabella Bertold Next Gen Legacy Fund together with BC Sailing and the West Vancouver Yacht Club. Additionally, the WeCANFoil Program/Canada SailGP Team provided the Waszps and logistical support needed to make this camp a success. @wecanfoil
“Foiling is not only the future of the sport, it is also incredibly fun! It is a whole new skillset to learn, so to provide BC sailors with the opportunity to learn from a top level foiling sailor like Sam Street, well, it’s opportunities like this that the NextGen Fund was created for.” – @isabella_bertold
• This camp was a big team effort between all involved, from logistics to coaching, to boats. A huge thank you to everyone involved. We hope to organize a similar camp later this year.
• Special thanks to Sarah Isaak & Matthew Stranaghan for lending their boats to this event; making it possible and increasing capacity!
