COSA to Host 2026 BC Summer Games!

This summer, the Central Okanagan Sailing Association (COSA) will proudly host the sailing competition for the 2026 BC Summer Games in Kelowna, welcoming top young sailors from across the province to compete on the waters of Okanagan Lake. With a long and distinguished history of hosting high-quality regattas and championship-level events, COSA is well positioned to deliver an exceptional competition environment that reflects both the spirit and excellence of the Games.

COSA has built a reputation as one of British Columbia’s premier sailing venues, regularly hosting regional and national regattas, youth championships, and major sailing development events. The club’s experienced race management volunteers, strong coaching culture, and deep community support ensure that visiting athletes will experience fair, professionally run racing in a welcoming and supportive environment. This legacy of event delivery has made COSA a trusted partner for major sporting events and reinforces its commitment to fostering youth development through sport.

During the week of the Games, COSA will temporarily shift its regular programming and operations to focus entirely on delivering a world-class competition. Club facilities, volunteer resources, and on-water operations will be dedicated to supporting athletes, coaches, and officials, ensuring a safe and competitive environment. This operational shift reflects COSA’s commitment to excellence and its pride in showcasing Kelowna and the Okanagan as a premier sailing destination.

An important advantage of the COSA venue is its proximity to athlete accommodations and food services, helping to create a convenient and cohesive Games experience. Short travel distances allow sailors to focus on performance while minimizing logistical complexity for teams and organizers. The venue’s location also provides reliable wind conditions and a proven race area that has supported countless successful competitions over the years.

For sailors wishing to gain experience in the same race area prior to the Games, COSA will host the Springtime Regatta on May 16 and 17. This event offers competitors an excellent opportunity to familiarize themselves with local conditions, race management style, and course areas that will be used during the BC Summer Games. Early registration discounts, as well as the Notice of Race (NOR), can be found at: https://cosa.bc.ca/racing_regattas.php

COSA looks forward to welcoming athletes, coaches, families, and sailing enthusiasts to Kelowna this summer.
